Skating is great for the whole family and it’s uncomplicated. So are these 8 Fun Facts you probably didn’t know about fitness and skating:

  1. Roller Skating works most muscle groups, including glutes, quads, abs, calves and arms.
  2. 30 minutes of roller skating produces a heart rate of at least 148 beats per minute.
  3. Roller skating stresses joints 50% less than running.
  4. Skating is actually safer than playgrounds, bicycling, basketball, baseball and football.
  5. Active people save $500 a year in medical costs. That’s $2K for a family of four.
  6. You could be burning 600 calories by going 10 mph on skates.
  7. The President’s Council on Physical Fitness recommends that youth ages 6 – 17 exercise 30 minutes or more at least 5 days per week. The American Heart Association lists roller skating as one of the best aerobic exercises.
